Samyang Group is accelerating digital innovation through the spread of RPA.

Samyang Group (Chairman Kim Yoon) announced on June 8 that the group opened a company exclusive Robotic Process Automation (RPA) portal “R-addin.” RPA is a software technology that automates simple and repetitive work.

The RPA portal is a website created to accelerate the spread of RPA within the Samyang Group and allows anyone to propose a RPA project related to their work without going through a complex procedure. Furthermore, by checking how much time is reduced in each division with the introduction of RPA and the history of company RPA examples, new proposals can be made efficiently.

Samyang Holdings introduced RPA last year, and through a company exclusive competition, adopted the name “R-addin” for RPA and the RPA portal. R-addin, was given its appropriate name because it has the ability to complete simple and repetitive work, much like Genie from Aladdin, so it truly captured the characteristic of RPA.

The Samyang Group preemptively introduced RPA within its food and chemicals related affiliates and were able to reduce more than 90% of work load which is calculated to be about 10,000 hours annually. Recently, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Samyang Holdings Emergency Business Control Center has also implemented RPA. RPA when applied to the Emergency Business Control Center compiles data such as economic indicators in Korea and abroad, the trends of raw materials, and major product sales in real time and supports management’s swift decision-making and preemptive response abilities.

Currently, the Samyang Group is expanding RPA across Samyang Holdings, Samyang Packaging, Samyang Biopharmaceuticals, and other corporations. Specifically, the group will combine new digital technologies such as chatbot and AI-based text recognition solutions and expand the scope of work applicable to RPA starting from June. Chatbot is a technology that allows you to check necessary information via simple text chatting with a robot. Once RPA and chatbot are linked, necessary data may be requested and received through chatting as well. Furthermore, if an AI-based text recognition solution is used, the automation of work using image-based documents such as pictures and PDFs is also possible.

An official from Samyang Holdings stated, “Our goal is to reduce more than 40,000 hours of work with the introduction of RPA. We will establish the foundation for a smart business management environment through digital innovation.”
