    - Held a kickoff event for ‘Samyang Group Process Innovation Project’ on May 20… live-streamed in the group - Beginning with ‘Work Innovation Project,’ which completely redesigns work procedures… to be completed in 2022 - “Digital transformation is changing the way we work. We can survive in the future if we completely design it anew.   ▲ Chairman Kim Yoon of the Samyang Group emphasized the importance of digital transformation to employees in the ‘Samyang Group Process Innovation Project’ held on May 20 in Samyang Discovery Center, Pangyo.     Samyang Group (Chairman Kim Yoon) is rebuilding enterprise resource planning (ERP) to accelerate digital transformation and change the way of working.      To establish ‘Global One ERP,’ Samyang Holdings announced in May that it launched the 'Samyang Group Process Innovation Project’ and held a kickoff event on the same day at the Samyang Discovery Center, Pangyo. To prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), this event minimized physical attendance and was live-streamed to employees in the group.     ERP is a business management system that accumulates data in business activities such as sales, production, accounting, and management central system and supports decision-making based on accurate information.   While Samyang Group has introduced and used ERP since 2001 as one of the very first companies to do so in Korea, the group decided to rebuild ERP due to growing importance of data and a rapidly changing work environment. This newly built ERP will integrate offices in Korea and other affiliates around the world under one system and increase efficiency with cloud technology. Furthermore, AI-based prediction analysis and mobile working process will be introduced to lead data-based work innovation.     Beginning with ‘Work Innovation Project,’ which redesigns work procedures, systems, and data to be in line with global best practices, Samyang Group is aiming to get this new ERP up and running in 2022 after establishing Korean entity system and connecting with the system overseas.     Chairman Kim Yoon emphasized employees’ active participation and willingness to change in the event, “Digital transformation is changing the way we work. We can survive in the future if we completely design the company’s process, system, and data anew.”   Currently, Samyang Group is seeking 8 initiatives for digital transformation. Rebuilding ERP is one of those 8 initiatives. The group is also nurturing data analytics experts and utilizing digital technology to respond to changes in research and development, production, and marketing. Plus, the group is seeking to expand robot process automation (RPA) with the goal of reducing 40,000 hours annually and using innovative digital technologies such as AI and big data to prepare for the future.

Samyang Group Held the 2nd Growth Talk Idea Pitching Day
Samyang Group Held the 2nd Growth Talk Idea Pitching Day

Samyang Group (Chairman Kim Yoon) is seeking to kill two birds with one stone by promoting in-house startups: discovering new growth engines and innovating its corporate culture.   Samyang Holdings announced on November 21 that the company held the 2nd Growth Talk Idea Pitching Day to discover new business ideas and encourage a challenge-seeking organizational culture on November 20 at Samyang Group’s headquarters located in Jongno-gu, Seoul.   Growth Talk is an in-house startup incubation program that turns new business ideas into reality that were developed by exploring new customers and business areas based on customer-oriented thinking and allows anyone to suggest new business ideas, form a team with like-minded employees, and take on a new business.   In this year’s Idea Pitching Day, eight teams, which were selected after the 1st application review among other new business ideas collected back in September on three topics (health & wellness, eco-friendly, and digital), gave presentations and received evaluations and feedback from the judging panel and the on-site evaluating panel based on business feasibility and teamwork. New ideas presented on this day included the ideas that combine Samyang Group’s traditional businesses and digital technologies in food, chemical, packaging, and biomedical. Projects such as ‘the shared kitchen platform targeting millennials’ and ‘the child play education platform using Samyang Group products’ attracted much attention from the audience.   Samyang Group will choose the final team, which will take on a new business, after on-site review and internal review. The finally selected team will be going through the incubating (growing a business at the early stage) period for about a year. During the incubating period, Samyang Group will provide funding and mentoring to develop and materialize a prototype.   President Yoon Jae-yeob from Samyang Holdings said, “I believe that turning a new business idea into a real business is more difficult than any other challenge. We will actively support the team at the group level so that they can realize their idea without losing their passion until the end.”
